It's Rainin on the Moon

It's Raining On The Moon

(Denton)

Have you heard the news it's rainin on the moon
The TV news man says we gotta all stay tuned
Even the scientists they say its true
Showin stupid diagrams of the news mans cartoons

Well common sence tells us none of this is true

There sellin a theory that the end is coming soon

There's a rocket bus leavin this afternoon

They tell us if you stay here our lives are doomed

Lots of shifty stuff goin on behind the scenes

Too much negative shit on our TV screens

It's all headlines in perfect disguise

Aint news no more just prime time lies

Oh it's rainin on the moon

Oh it's rainin on the moon

Every channels got a version of the same ol spin

Truth is lost in the fight their in

Somewhere deep down we all know whats true

Ain't them on the screen it's just me and you

It's the same ol story with a different face

Got our heads spinnin all over the place

Prime time lies dressed up as red and blue

Not tellin' the truth keepin' that from you

It's rainin - Rainin on the moon

Rain falling on the moon's surface with Earth in the background.

"TIME"

TIME

(Denton)

I was young with a fist full of wild & free

Didn't think about time didn't think about me

Didn't hear the clock when your runnin fast

I'm runnin behind time don't look back

Well I left when she was barely nine

Told myself it would be just a short time

Missed her growin missed those years

Missed her laughter missed her tears

I should have said I love you a thousand more times

Instead of thinkin I had so much time

Should have stayed when she needed me there

Out chasing the world like I didn't care

No rewind no second take

No way back from the decisions we make

Lost time in those nights lost time in those days

Gone like dust in a hurricane

You don't get it back time passes by

Your life burns out in the blink of an eye

Well I was busy chasin what I thought I'd needed

Didn't see what was right in front of me

I'm older now and I finally know

Time don't wait it just lets you go

Time is a gift you never see

Till it's gone from you and me

Every minute is gold every breaths a loan

You don't know it till it's gone

Time goes so fast

Time you gotta make it last

Just Playin Guitar

JUST PLAYIN GUITAR

(Denton)

Walking up broadway - a six string in my hand

Gotta find me a Gig - before the night sets in

If I had a car man - I'd fill her up and drive

Where the bright lights shine - and the riffs run wild

Route 66 to the California Shores

Gotta be somethin here a whole lot more

No Second guessin the life I lead

Just Playin Guitar is all I need

Call myself a writer but I never get paid

Playin till my fingers bleed ain't got it made

Just gotta keep pickin it's guaranteed

Just Playin Guitar is all I need

Now I'm playin in the band their rockin in the seats

Givin lots of music to people I meet

Great to feel those strings again

Just Playin Guitar till 2 AM

It's a dusty pink strat in a road worn case

Strings tired from the many miles in a worn out space

Now I'm playin guitar my soul is free

"Just Playin Guitar" - Is all I need

Just Playin Guitar

"Het Dad I'm Doin Fine:

HEY DAD I'M DOIN FINE

(Denton)

I’m remembering back through the years today

There's so much (to you) I need to say

Oh I know   Yes I know

The candles burnin bright on your birthday cake

Your first steps I watched you take

Oh I Know - My Love Grows

Your tiny footsteps running down the hall

Askin Dad please don’t let me fall

The bedtime stories that we read

Or the monsters underneath your bed

Now your bedroom is empty doesn’t sound the same

But your walls remember your name

Watched you grow up each and every day

In your unique and special ways

Oh I know - My love grows

When I was sad having a bad day

Hugs from you the hurt went away

Oh I know Yes I know

We hit a few bumps along the way

But you forgave me I have to say

Helped me grow It helped me grow

Your accomplishments so many to say

It defines who you are today

It's amazing who you are today

Walking slow through the arena halls

Watching you answer those important calls

Big steps in years gone by

Standin there with a fathers pride

Third base givin you the signs

Watching you grow up one pitch at a time

The game was over we closed the day

I wouldn't change a single play

Through the Years the adventures we took

Precious memories in our family book

So many miles separate us now

I learned to love because you taught me how

God knows fathers need some grace too

So he gave me kids like you

Now I'm an old emotional man

You hold my heart in your hands

Someday just a picture in a frame

Remember my love is an endless flame

Morning golf course in the rising sun

Playing golf with my son

In her I see the work she's done

But I still see my little one

Your all grown up and gone away

The wrinkles on my saddned face

You don't need me like you used to

"But I" Still need to be a Dad to You

Ask I need now is a short call

From you to say

"HEY DAD I'M DOIN FINE"

"HEY DAD I'M DOIN FINE"

"Travelin Man"

TRAVELIN' MAN

(Denton, Wallen & Anders)

He woke up with a restless heart, boots by the door

Same ol town but he wanted so much more

Map on the dash and a tank half full

Dreams run deeper than his paycheck can pull

Dust on the road and the suns comin up

His coffee in a dented roadside cup

Every mile is like a brand new song

He don't know where just knows he's gone

He's a travelin' man with the wind at his back

Chasin' down a life he ain't lived yet

From the mountains high to the oceans wide

Got a fire in his soul he can't keep inside

Every town's just a stop along the way

Every night's a different place to stay

He ain't lost just can't stand still

Got miles to go and worlds to fill

Met a girl in a desert town one night

Neon glow in the pale moonlight

She said "why you always just passin through"

There's too much I ain't seen and a lot left to do

He's a travelin' man with the wind at his back

Chasin' down a life he ain't lived yet

From the mountains high to oceans wide

Got a fire in his soul he can't keep inside

Left at dawn with a soft goodbye

Rear view mirror full of her tear filled eyes

But the road kept callin' out his name

Freedom's a gift but a lonely flame

Maybe someday he'll settle down

Plant some roots in a quiet town

But till that day doin' the best he can

Back on the road he's a "Travelin' Man"

Travelin Man

He's a the Travelin Man

Travelin Man

"Words are Just Words"

WORDS ARE JUST WORDS

(Denton)

Some folks spit fire trying to feel real tall

It's just cheap talk

They sling words like broken glass

Trying to make a moment last from the past

But words are just words let em say what they want

Livin by love not somebody's words

Their poison just fades it's a fact

Roll off your shoulder just don't react

Let kindness be louder the truth is your shield

What's they say in anger is easily healed

Some folks use words without knowing their weight

Fall from their mouth now it's far too late

Words are just words just echoes in time

Don't let them define your piece of mind

You choose what stays you choose what's heard

Your bigger than hate your bigger than words

Don't know your road don’t play their game

They try to fan the hateful flame

A tongue ain't steel when lies aren't true

Only cuts deep if you let it cut you

Just let em talk till they outta breath

Hurt can’t come from things unsaid

Kindness runs deeper than words ever could

Walking away feels so damn good

Words are Just Words - they can't hurt

"It's Too Late Now"

  ITS TOO LATE NOW

(Denton)

I let the silence say the things I should have said

Watched your tears fall as I turned my head

Thought you'd stay no matter what I'd do

Now I'm alone replaying all of you

I broke what I shoulda held tight

Traded your love for one more night

Now your gone and I see clear

I had heaven standin right here

Now I'm stuck with truth I really hate

I was the one who sealed our fate

If I could turn back time somehow

I'd choose you but it's

Too Late Now

You gave me chances I threw away

Turned your sunshine into shades of gray

You were everything I couldn't see

Now your memory won't leave me be

It's Too Late Now

How can I get you back

It's Too Late Now

Gotta find a way somehow

It's Too Late Now

It's a sad song I'd love to rewrite

I broke what I shoulda held tight

Now your gone and I can't pretend

I ever get another chance again

It's Too Late Now

I left your boots by the front light

Like you'd come back in the middle of the night

I just wanna hold you somehow

Go back to the start

But It's Too Late Now

You were as steady as the west Texas sky

I was the storm you needed to hide

Just a man with a broken heart

I tore my whole world apart

It's Too Late Now

It's Too Late Now

"You Know I've Got a Brother"

YOU KNOW I'VE GOT A BROTHER

(Denton)

You know I've got a brother

2 pieces of our family tree

As kids we grew up together

With Mom & Dad a happy family

They say there is a reason

They say time will heal

Well neither time or any reason

Will change the love for you we feel

Somehow something tells me

Your watching down over me

A perfect view from heaven

But in our hearts you'll always be

You know I've got a brother

Watchin stars in an Arizona sky

Or sittin round a Munds fire (With so much laughter)

Losing you too soon and wondering why

If family love could have saved you

You'd be right here today

Flyin your drone in the mountains

Or on a trail leading the way

You know I've got a brother

Your love for the lord was so real

Now you sit in his presence

All your pain has been healed

You know I've got a brother

Your love for the lord was so real

Now you sit in his presence

All your pain has been healed

These words are not enough

For the message I wanna send

Feelin blessed to have known you

As my brother & my friend

You know I've got a brother

"The Best I've Ever Had"

THE BEST I'VE EVER HAD

(Denton)

He takes a bite and leans back in his chair

Closes his eyes like he's sayin a prayer

Shakes his head let's out a laugh

Says " That's the best I've had"

From diner fries to a five star plate

Doesn't matter if it's cheap or great

Every flavor hits him just right

It's the best he's tasted in his life

Every little road trip every road he's on

Life's experiences long long gone

Every laugh every mile he's to damn glad

Best road trip I've ever had

Drivin in slow Mug & Bun's the place

It's May in Indy I'm home for the race

Takes one bite leans back and tips his cap

Best tenderloin I've ever had

Sunset bleeding in a desert sky

Wind through my windows cactus rolls by

On our way up north he looks at her and says

It's "The best drive I've ever had"

The query inn time to get some rest

No TV knob it's lost I guess

The manager's blankets my kids wanna scream

It's "The best hotel I've ever seen"

Wakes up with the rooster before the sun hits the sky

Sunset bleeding in a desert sky

Wind through my windows cactus rolls by

On our way up north he looks at her and says

It's "The best drive I've ever had"

The query inn time to get some rest

No TV knob it's lost I guess

The manager's blankets my kids wanna scream

It's "The best hotel I've ever seen"

Wakes up with the rooster before the sun hits the sky

Pours yesterdays coffee takes a sip not sure why

Burnt toast & egges in a skillet eggs it ain't hell bad

Best breakfast I've ever had

Well every time I eat & drink somethin good

Out comes that statement just like it should

My kids laugh thinkin Dad's gone mad

But "It's the best laugh they've ever had'

Best I've Ever Had

"Family" Acoustic

Family (Acoustic)

(Denton)

In a little house where laughter stays

We count our blessings in quiet ways

Through every storm through every year

Family is courage standing here

It's not the walls it's who's inside

Everybody feels family pride

Love is the light when the night gets long

Family is the place where we all belong

Through every high through every fall

We rise together we stand so tall

From bedtime stories to kitchen fights

To makin up in the mornin light

Every moment both big and small

Builds the strongest love of all

When the world feels far to cold

Mom will be the hand that you hold

No matter where our lives will lead

Family is the strength we all need

Love is the thread that won't let go

Family is the roots that helps us grow

Through every dream through every scar

Us together is where we are

We grew up runnin' through grandma's yard

All of playin so damn hard

Chicken & Dumplins a recipe nobody knows

Sunday's at grandma's was the place we all chose

Cousins by blood but friends we grew

Life saves times we all knew

From old school games to a newborns cry

Another generations passing by

Mom & Dad leadin the way

Guiding my heart every single day

Uncle's laugh tellin stories loud

Aunt's bring love that makes us proud

Christmas together all the lights aglow

Me and my cousins playin in the snow

We're family what else can I say

Love like this will never fade away

The greatest words in the world

Are "Love & Family"

"Hold Onto Hope"

HOLD ONTO HOPE

(Denton, Wallen, Anders)

Long shadows fall across the fading day

A distant echo calls I'm slippin away

Dust rises silver in the winding streets

Old records spinnin through a summer heat

Broken glass memories haunt the wooden rails

Neon lit histories tangled in smoky trails

Footsteps returning to the place I knew

Dreams left burnin under skies of blue

A restless wind is howling alone

Carrying secrets nowhere to go

When the night rolls on it won't let me go

Every ounce of longing carved into my soul

I hear the river whisper truths I can't ignore

Hold on to hope just a little more

When the night rolls on it won't let me go

Electric desires in the pulse of the room

Fingers on frets painting colors of gloom

A faded sign flickers of stories untold

Promised scattered too weary to hold

Fallin through moments lost & found

Hearts beating wildly to a thunderous sound

Hold onto hope

Caught in the silence between the lines

Hold onto hope

Haunted by memories chasing the signs

When the night rolls on it won't let me go

Every ounce of longing carved into my soul

I hear the river whisper truth's I can't ignore

Hold on to hope just a little more

Hold onto hope it will let me go

Maybe tomorrow I'll find my way

Break from these shadows step into the day

But the road keeps callin slow & wide

With every heartbeat I'm pulled inside

Hold onto hope it will let me go

Every ounce of longing carved into my soul

I hear the river whisper truth's I can't ignore

Hold on to hope just a little more

Hold onto to hope it will let me go

Street lights flicker then softly fade

I'm holdin on to promises we made

The night rolls on but I remain

Waiting for sunlight after the rain

Hold onto hope

Hold onto hope

"The Chair:

  THE CHAIR

(Denton)

It was just another summer day

Gonna sit in my garage and read away

Funny how life changes so quick

As I sat down my life would change

My left hand would be rearranged

One slip in a flash my finger disappeared

Called 911 son wrapped it up

Iced in a tupperware plastic cup

One bad move and I already know

Had 10 fingers playin to the beat

Stomping the floor I could plainly see

"The Chair' had other plans

They wrapped my hand and drove me away

To a 4 week long hospital stay

Nine fingers and a new story to tell

As the doctor talked I nodded quick

7 hours of surgery I felt so sick

Another lesson flashing right before eyes

Bandages wrapped was a warning sign

Mirrors don't care it just draws a line

Every scar tells the bitter truth

Cut to my knuckle just wanna scream

I'm short one piece of the old me

But "The Chair" remembers everything

I can still shake hands still play the slide

"The Chair" didn't take away all my pride

Life's little chaos can't clip my wings

When the cold rolls in I feel it ache

Sittin down that day was a big mistake

In the "The Chair'

Nine fingers still livin life

Still tie, still wave, still write this line

Sometimes you just gotta overcome

20 years have passed as I write this song

Every scars a lyric when things go wrong

But I'm still playin my guitar

My Life is good thankful today

I thought my playin days had gone away

But "The Chair" didn't understand

Now what I lost is back on my hand

Thank God the surgeon had other plans

No thanks to "The Chair"

No thanks to "The Chair"

"YOU"

"YOU"

(Denton)

You don't need a crown or a mountain of gold

Don't need to hear a story someone already told

“You” can be the light that gets us through

Yes the smallest changes

It Starts with "YOU"

Just a kind word spoken or a hand held tight

Every choice you make even if it ain't polite

It all starts with "YOU

Every smile plants love like a seed

A kind acts bigger it's what they need

Don't have to save it all, just do your part

When your mind is wide open it's opens your heart

Just check on your neighbor or call your friend

Listen to them closely helping their heart to mend

It starts with "YOU"

It starts with "YOU"

Volunteer your time a great thing to do

A little love goes a long way

Coming from "YOU"

Just leave a note or pay for a meal

It might seem small but it's a real big deal

Comin' from "YOU"

Don't have to fix every wrong you see

Just be as good as you want the world to be

When we care we reap what we sew

Your the first car in line just pay their toll

Because it all "Starts with "You"

Starts with "YOU"

Starts with "YOU"

"Family" Full Band

FAMILY (Full Band)

(Denton, Anders & Wallen)

In a little house where laughter stays

We count our blessings in quiet ways

Through every storm through every year

Family is courage standin here

It's not the walls it's who's inside

Everybody feels family pride

Mama singing softly in the kitchen light

Dad working late but he'll be home tonight

Our family sweet & true

They're the reason we make it through

From the cradle to an old porch swing

They're the heart of everything

Love is the light when the night gets long

Family is the place where we all belong

Through every high through every fall

We rise together we stand so tall

Kids grow up and someday move away

But they're roots stay strong no matter where they stray

No matter where our lives will lead

Family is the strength we all need

Love & Family sweet and true

It's the reason we make it through

From the cradle to an old porch swing

It is the heart of everything

Money fades and time moves fast

But the sweetest things are love that lasts

Growin up on Sunday's family meals it shows

Chicken & Dumplings a receipt nobody knows

Photograph's fading in an old shoe box

Memories living in the ticking clock

From old school games to a newborns cry

Another generation passing by

One day as we grow old and gray

Still tellin family stories the same old way

Oh hold them close while they are here

Lets laugh together year by year

Because the richest soul will always be

The one surounded by "Family"

We're "Family" what else can I say

Love like this will never fade away

The greatest words in the world

Are Love & 'Family"
